Africa-Press – Botswana. The Ministry of Sport and Arts (MoSA) announced plans to refurbish existing sports facilities and expand community-based amenities under the National Development Plan 12. Minister Honourable Jacob Kelebeng emphasized the importance of partnerships to drive these initiatives during a courtesy visit from Bank Gaborone.
The meeting focused on identifying areas where collaborations could strengthen infrastructure development, support business ideas, promote cultural objectives, and improve the welfare of athletes and creatives. MoSA is actively inviting partnerships to advance both ongoing and proposed projects across the country.
During the visit, the Ministry shared specific needs with the Bank Gaborone delegation, led by Branch Manager Ms. Mpho Halley Phirinyane. Key priorities included improving financial literacy and welfare for athletes and creatives, while leveraging upcoming events to attract sponsorship for sports preparations and event facilitation.
Ms. Phirinyane acknowledged the Ministry’s proactive approach in identifying areas for collaboration. She highlighted that Bank Gaborone is aligned with MoSA’s goals and is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance both the sports and arts sectors. The Bank confirmed plans to provide services such as financial inclusion programs, payment solutions, and financial literacy initiatives. Staff welfare support was also part of the discussion.
The engagement signals a stronger partnership between government and private sector players, aiming to enhance the performance of athletes, empower creatives, and ensure sustainable development of sports and cultural infrastructure.
This collaboration is expected to create long-term benefits, boosting community participation, improving athlete preparation, and promoting financial literacy across the arts and sports sectors.
