Africa-Press – Botswana. Staff at the Ministry of Sport and Arts (MoSA) were urged to prioritise contentment over material accumulation during their weekly Thursday prayer service. The service, led by Chaplain Mike Moletasaka, focused on the theme of contentment and its relevance to personal finance and overall well-being.
Chaplain Moletasaka drew on the biblical narrative of the “rich fool” from Luke 12:15-21 to illustrate the dangers of unappeasable desire. He emphasised that a person’s worth is not determined by their possessions, but by how they value what they already have. According to the Chaplain, a lack of contentment is a major contributor to personal debt, prompting individuals to acquire unnecessary items or pursue wealth beyond their means. He likened this behaviour to the rich man in the scripture, who sought to expand his storage for surplus wealth only to have his life unexpectedly end.
The Chaplain offered practical guidance for cultivating contentment. He encouraged staff to look inward to understand their true selves and avoid pursuing goals or identities that do not align with their values. He stressed the importance of having a personal vision to guide choices and establishing measurable targets to monitor progress. Such practices, he noted, foster satisfaction and provide clarity in achieving personal and professional objectives.
Chaplain Moletasaka concluded by reminding attendees to place their trust in God and rely on Him above all else.
Following the sermon, Ms. Gloria Bowelo, Manager of Human Resource Management (HRM), delivered the vote of thanks. Referencing Philippians 4:12-13, she expressed gratitude to the Chaplain for delivering a message that uplifted and renewed the staff’s spirits. She highlighted the significance of staff attendance and expressed hope that the teachings would inspire a focused and purposeful start to the workday.
The prayer service reinforced the link between spiritual well-being, contentment, and financial prudence, encouraging MoSA staff to cultivate inner satisfaction while making mindful and responsible choices in their personal and professional lives.
