Africa-Press – Botswana. Integrity and trustworthiness are the qualities a mother ought to have in their journey of raising families and children.
The remarks were made by Kgosi Norah Gulubane of Gulubane village during Mother’s Day celebration Sunday in Francistown. Kgosi Gulubane said Mother’s Day served as an opportunity for women to reflect on their roles and appealed to them to guard against anything that could divide their families.
She said women should have integrity and avoid having multiple partners which could lead to uncertainty regarding the who fathered their children. Kgosi Gulubane said women should take control of their lives, have their own source of income and not rely on anyone for financial security.
Pastor Lilian Mmoloki of Open Gates International Church, highlighted the importance of mothers in raising healthy and happy children.
The celebration session was organised by an Anti-Gender Based Violence (GBV) Activist Ms Gosego Mmolawa with the aim to share insights and knowledge with different mothers on various issues that affect them.
Ms Mmolawa said to celebrate being a mother meant being fully aware of the responsibilities of a mother, raising children who would positively contribute to the society as well as fully understanding children’s rights.
