Africa-Press – Botswana. The 61st meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) commence today to June 3. A press release from the National Assembly says the sitting will examine books of accounts of government for the financial year ending March 2022.
It says the mandate of the PAC is to ensure that government expenditure is transparent, accountable and aligned to the aspirations of the public.
“One of its key functions is to examine and assess the financial statements of government and its various departments with emphasis on how public resources are used,” states the press release.
It further says the basis of the examination is to improve the performance in service delivery, improve transparency and accountability as well as to broaden the scope of analysis.
Accounting Officers will appear on behalf of their respective government ministries and departments.
The PAC is made up of the following Members of Parliament; Mr Taolo Lucas, who is the committee Chairperson, Mr Camaldin Jacobs, Mr Sam Digwa, Mr Victor Phologolo, Mr Shima Monageng, Mr Motlhaleemang Moalosi, Mr Goretetse Kekgonegile, Mr Boniface Mabeo, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi and Mr Palelo Motaosane.
