Africa-Press – Botswana. Gin enthusiasts thronged Bojanala Waterfront on Saturday for The Gin Factor picnic.
Organised by The Gallery House BW, the event line up included some of Botswana’s afrotech and rhythm and blues DJs such as DJ Lefatshe, NT Base and Deelow in the scene, who set the crowd for good vibes.
The crowd was dressed according to the theme, with some donning brightly coloured dresses, signature peplums, baggy T-shirts, oversised shirts and sneakers. Also in sight, were knit designs especially shorts and loose tops.
However, the lone denim ensemble was highlighted with cropped tops, oversised light cardigans and walking shorts with oversised checkered shirts. The music was mellow house tunes as well as old school rhythm and blues, which went along with a spring afternoon.
“For us, welcoming spring means adapting our daily and weekly rhythms to accommodate the warmer weather,” Pearl Phillips who attended the event said.
She said although they came to experience South African house vocalist Monique Bingham who was headliner of the event, they were happy to have had a relaxed afternoon despite having to leave the event before the performance of headliner. While most were looking forward to a day performance of the main headliner, some appreciated the music that kept them waiting.
“We are celebrating spring and it has been a long time since Monique Bingham came to Gaborone. We cannot wait to see her on stage again,” Tlotlo Seema said.
She wished that in future such events could have main acts perform earlier to cater for those who have to go home early.
“At times we just have to wait till late because we will be waiting for what we paid for.”
