Africa-Press – Botswana. Manchester City announced, on Friday, the renewal of the contract with the Algerian footballer Riyad Mahrez, reported the Portuguese sports newspaper Record, in the online edition.
The Algerian international is preparing to complete his fifth season with the citizens, after being signed from Leicester in the summer of 2018 for 68 million euros.
The previous contract was valid for just one more year and, from now on, the 31-year-old African winger has a contract until 2025.
In the four years, Mahrez played 188 games, in which he scored 63 goals and made 45 assists, playing an important role in winning nine titles. The player is a candidate for the African Footballer of the Year award, organized by the African Football Confederation, CAF.
