Africa-Press – Botswana. Police in Serowe are investigating a case in which two bodies were discovered on Sunday and Monday in what is believed to be murder/ suicide.
Confirming the investigation, Serowe police station commander, Superintendent Poloko Oteng said both incidents occurred at Dinokwane ward in Serowe. Oteng also said they received a report after a 53-year-old woman was found lying in a pool of blood by his 13-year-old son who then informed neighbors about the matter.
“Police found the deceased lying in a pool of blood with a wound on the neck suspected to have been occasioned by slashing with a sharp object. She was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital where she was certified dead on arrival by doctors. We do not have leads to what could have led to the duo’s deaths. But through our preliminary investigations we have established that the duo knew each other hence we suspect they might have been in a love relationship,” he said.
Oteng further stated that on Monday morning while still investigating the matter they received another report from a passerby who found a 43-year-old man of Mere ward in Serowe hanging from a tree still at the other side of Dinokwane ward.
“We suspect that he stabbed the woman to death before fleeing the scene and committed suicide. Our investigations have also revealed that the duo was last seen together by the woman’s son. This is the fourth murder case in my policing area this year something that calls for immediate attention as crime of passion remains a concern,” Oteng said.
