Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana named top safari destination 4th year running

For the fourth year running, Botswana has been named Africa’s best safari destination by SafariBookings.com as the country continues to shine on the global tourism map.

Comparing 14, 285 African safari holidays offered by top-rated tour operators, the website is unequivocally the largest marketplace for African safaris.

BW’s latest triumph follows a rigorous survey that analysed more than 3, 100 reviews submitted by travel experts and international safari-goers.

The rankings had Tanzania and Kenya following closely behind.

However, Botswana’s unmatched blend of luxury, authenticity and conservation continues to set it apart. The accolade reaffirms the country’s position as a premier destination for nature-based tourism, blending ecological sustainability with unique natural experiences.

Botswana is home to some of Africa’s most iconic and pristine wilderness areas, including the Okavango Delta. One of the largest inland deltas in the world, the Okavango supports an array of activities such as mekoro rides through water channels led by local tour guides as well as a diverse wildlife for visitors, making it a wonderful safari experience.

Westwards lies the Kgalagadi Desert which offers a different perspective with its golden sand dunes and diverse wildlife. The same can be said for the majestic Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) which is a habitat to flora and fauna and home to the indigenous San people.

Other celebrated destinations include Chobe National Park, famed for its massive elephant population, and the Moremi Game Reserve, widely regarded as one of Africa’s finest wildlife havens.

Botswana has pioneered a low-impact, high-value tourism model that prioritises conservation over mass tourism. Unlike many other safari destinations overwhelmed by crowds, Bots maintains strict limits on visitor numbers and promotes eco-friendly luxury lodges that fund conservation and community development efforts.

This model has earned the country accolades not only for its visitor experience but also for its commitment to preserving its natural heritage.

Though tourism comes after mining amongst Botswana’s revenue generating sectors, the two are now hand-in-hand as twin pillars of the economy, with government reinvesting diamond revenues into national development, including the growth of eco-tourism and wildlife conservation.
