Africa-Press – Botswana. University of Botswana (UB) has signed a five-year agreement on cultural and academic cooperation with Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham of India, marking a new chapter in international partnerships for research, teaching and cultural exchange.

The agreement, signed by UB Vice Chancellor, Professor David Norris and Amrita’s Provost, Dr Maneesha Vinodini Ramesh, will see the two institutions collaborating on joint research projects, academic and scientific activities, student and staff exchanges as well as cultural initiatives. They will also share educational resources, including digital libraries, with research outcomes published jointly.

Speaking at the signing, Professor Norris said the partnership went beyond academia to impact society directly. “Amrita University is doing a wonderful job in empowering communities and improving livelihoods. I am very excited that through this MoU we will learn a lot from Amrita and I also believe they will learn from what we are doing at the University of Botswana,” he said.

He added that the collaboration would be brought to life through student and staff exchanges as well as research with real-world application. “I look forward to the operationalisation of this MoU so that whatever we sign for, we act on it. I am very excited that UB is partnering with a university that is truly impactful in society,” added Professor Norris.

The cooperation spans all academic disciplines represented at both universities and is expected to enrich cultural understanding while strengthening UB’s international profile.
