Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police was reinforced with 132 new agents, who joined the XI training course for 2nd class agents, which ended this Wednesday, in Cidade da Praia.
According to the Minister of Internal Administration, Paulo Rocha, the number of PN staff is always around two thousand men. However, he says there have been “a lot of departures over the years, mainly because of retirements”.
“Then we have dropouts and thirdly we have disciplinary measures. There is a deficit. I don’t have a certain number here, but it is a fact that we have a deficit. We have some islands with greater need and this contingent comes to reinforce where we need it, with more priority character”, added the government official, who presided over the closing ceremony of the training.
At the moment, according to him, there is some shortage of staff in Santo Antão, in Mosteiros, in Praia and in Tarrafal.
“Firm and Strong” Commitment
For recent graduates, the official asked for a “firm and strong commitment” to the institution, stressing that, throughout the performance of their duties, new agents will face “many challenges”.
The training lasted 07 months, with a workload of 930 hours, with 132 trainees, 34 female and 98 male.
It should be remembered that since 2019 there has been no incorporation of new agents in the institution.
