Africa-Press – Cape verde. Sao Tome citizens residing in Cape Verde want to hear from President Carlos Vila Nova serious commitments, which will improve the social, political, economic and legal situation of the country, as well as greater inclusion and well-being of those residing in the country and in emigrant communities .
On the day that Vila Nova began a four-day visit to Cape Verde, some São Tomé emigrants interviewed by online Voa Português, in the city of Praia, did not want it to be just another visit full of promises, to later not be fulfilled, defrauding the expectations of those who want a more inclusive and developed São Tomé and Príncipe.
For José Viana, an emigrant from São Tomé and Príncipe, there is an urgent need to reorganize the country, in order to create conditions at all levels for the development and well-being of São Toméans in the country and in emigrant communities.
“The issue of gender equality and opportunities are fundamental… we need to create conditions to resolve these and other situations to return the necessary peace that São Toméans knew in times gone by”, stressed that citizen who has lived in the city of Praia for a long time.
give impetus
In Adilson Neto’s opinion, courtesy visits are no longer justified these days, so he hopes that the São Toméan Head of State will be able to give impetus to some agreements signed between the Governments of both countries so that they can be effectively fulfilled.
“For us it is important that imputations are given, above all in education and signed technologies, we think that São Tomé and Príncipe has to gain from some experiences in Cape Verde, but that things are implemented in practice, taking into account that it no longer makes sense to visit just living together”, said Neto.
Presidents admit the need to apply in practice the various agreements already signed
When asked about the role that the Head of State should play to allow for improvements in the field of political and economic stability, rigor in the management of public affairs and accountability of those who prevaricate, Carlos Vila Nova responded with commitment and strong engagement in carrying out the so-called and necessary justice reform in Sao Tome and Principe.
“We have the duty at this time as powers established in accordance with the Constitution to reverse the evils….In the sphere of my competences I will do everything to introduce the necessary reforms. I inform you that I have convened for the 29th of this month, a high-level meeting in order to analyze issues on the ongoing justice reform process”, advanced the Santomean statesman.
