Africa-Press – Cape verde. Electra recorded, in 2022, national losses of 114 547 15 kWh in electricity production, corresponding to 24.4% of the total produced. Likewise, losses in water production at Electra Norte were around 44.1%. The data are contained in the provisional technical indicators, indicated in the 2022 accounts report, relating to the production, transport, distribution, commercialization of electricity, water and microgeneration.

According to information advanced by Electra, the company produced, in 2022, 468 936 643 kWh of Electricity, of which it sold 308 503 615 kWh.

With regard to water, out of a production of 9,770,145 m3, it sold 7,560,682 m3.

“Total electricity losses were 114 547 15 kWh (24.4% of national production), total water distribution losses from Electra Norte were 44.1% m3 (42.7%) and water losses in high of Electra Sul were (2.9%)”, explained the company.

Quality and provision of services

With regard to the quality and supply of services, the SAIFI (System Interruption Average Frequency Index) was 16.8 interruptions (Electra Norte) and 29.3 interruptions (Electra Sul).

The SAIDI (System Interruption Average Duration Index) was 22.9 hours (Electra Norte) and 66.1 hours (Electra Sul).

The company goes on to say that it ended 2022 with 165,240 active electricity customers and 33,087 active water customers.

Of this total, 6,790 have prepaid contracts, 16,927 are beneficiaries of the social electricity tariff and 1,028 beneficiaries of the social water tariff.

Street lighting

Public Lighting, in turn, consumed 34,115 kWh of electricity, for a total of 49,232 light spots.

Furthermore, the Thermal Production Plants consumed 16,683 475 liters of diesel, 10,378 343 liters of Fuel 180, 62,541,773 liters of Fuel 380 and 51,494 liters of MDO.

Microgeneration had a total of 59 customers, with 350,050 kWh of injected energy, with a penetration rate of 0.07%.

In view of these data, the company calls on all customers to pay their Electricity and Water bills in a timely manner, in order to contribute to improving the country’s Energy Sustainability.

It also requests that practices and crimes of energy theft and fraud be denounced.
