The 2022/2023 Cape Verde football championship, to be played from the 22nd of this month to the 17th of June, is budgeted at 49 billion escudos, of which 70% are earmarked for travel and 30% for food and accommodation. Sponsored by the Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF), the men’s senior national competition will be played from April 22 to June 17, in a total of 41 games spread across stadiums in all municipalities in the country.

Around 34,300 contos, equivalent to 70% of the total of 49 thousand contos, are destined to the cost of air travel (99%) and sea, while food and accommodation occupy 30% of this budget, that is, approximately 14,700 Tales.

Hosting the various caravans at FCF training centers in Cidade da Praia, São Vicente and Sal substantially reduces these costs.

According to statements given to Inforpress by the president of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF), Mário Semedo, all this money is borne by FIFA, with the body that governs Cape Verdean football having already shared and socialized the travel plan ( air and sea travel), as well as accommodation and food with all the regional associations and respective clubs representing the national level.

12 teams divided into 3 groups

The 2022/2023 National Championship will feature 12 teams representing the 11 sports regions divided into three groups of four teams each, with Académica do Mindelo defending the title.

Group A will have the regional champion teams from São Vicente (Mindelense), Santo Antão Norte (Santo Crucifixo), Boa Vista (Juventude do Norte) and Santiago Sul (Clube Desportivo Travadores).

Group B will be made up of the winners of the regional sports regions of Sal (Palmeiras), São Nicolau (Belo Horizonte), Santo Antão Sul (Os Sanjoanense) and Fogo (Vulcânico),

Group C will be integrated by Académica do Mindelo as holder of the national title and the regional champions of Brava (Sport Club Morabeza), Maio (Figueirense) and Santiago Norte (Varandinha).

Final on June 17th on an island yet to be designated

The first stage of the championship, the group stage, according to the FCF calendar, will be played in the system of all against all in two rounds, inside and outside, so that the winners of each of the groups and best runner-up.

The semi-finals will be played on the 3rd and 10th of June, with the final being played on the 17th of June, a single leg, on an island yet to be designated.
