For the first time participating in the Basketball World Cup, Cape Verde was included in group F with the selections of Slovenia, Georgia and Venezuela, according to the draw carried out yesterday, in Manila, Philippines. The Cape Verdean team will play the three games of the first phase of this 2023 Basketball World Cup, in the city of Okinawa, Japan.

As Inforpress advances, for this main FIBA ​​competition, the 32 teams, including five representatives from Africa, were placed in eight pots of four teams each.

The “Blue Tubarões”, as the Cape Verde national team is known, shared pot eight with Lebanon, Egypt and South Sudan, during the draw that took place yesterday in Manila, Philippines.

The national team was included in group F with the selections of Slovenia, Georgia and Venezuela.

World Cup for the first time

It should be recalled that the Cape Verdean team qualified for the first time on February 26 of this year, for the World Cup, an event that will have the participation of 32 teams and will take place between August 25 and September 10 in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Cape Verde is one of the five African countries to represent the continent at the 2023 World Cup, along with South Sudan, Ivory Coast, Egypt and Angola. Check the breakdown of groups:
