Africa-Press – Cape verde. The non-governmental organization Cape Verdeans United (CVU) donated a set of musical instruments to the municipality of Mosteiros, on Fogo Island, to equip the municipal music school Giovani Rodrigues.
The symbolic delivery of a violin, bass guitar, cello, trumpet and piano took place at the Cape Verdean Museum in Pawtuket, Rhode Island, during the visit of the mayor of Mosteiros, Fábio Vieira, and the councilor for Culture, Nelson Pires.
Cape Verdeans United, remember, co-financed the playground of Fonsaco (Mosteiros) and two others in the municipalities of São Filipe and Santa Catarina do Fogo, and at the time of the symbolic delivery of the instruments, the vice-president of this NGO, Genie Lomba , left assurances that the CVU is making efforts to obtain as much resources as possible to support the municipality of Mosteiros in implementing this project, highlighting Mosteiros’ commitment to investing in education, promoting the art and culture of peace.
The mayor of Mosteiros thanked CVU for its support for the project’s implementation, stressing that, with the instruments made available and other donations that will happen later, the city council is in a position to start implementing the municipal music school.
