Sal City Council Removes Gambling Signs

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Municipal Council of Sal removed several billboards related to fortune and risk activities that had been installed on some public roads in the council.

In a statement, the municipality explained this Wednesday that the decision was taken to consider that this type of content is a threat to the Christian matrix that characterizes Cape Verde and disrespects the cultural and identity values of the Cape Verdean society.

The same note also highlights the city council’s commitment to ensuring that public spaces in the municipality reflect the sense of collective identity and ensure respect for traditions, beliefs and values that strengthen a harmonious coexistence among the municipalities.

The Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality (ICIEG) informed today that it presented a formal complaint to the Regulatory Authority for Social Communication (ARC) against the Casino Royal company, claiming that it reproduces gender stereotypes that perpetuate the objectification and sexualization of women, contributing to inequality and discrimination of women and girls.
