Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Carlos Monteiro, will lead a delegation participating in Conxemar, one of the most important international fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood processing fairs in Vigo, Spain, until Thursday, the 9th.

According to a statement from the Government’s Secretariat of Communication and Image, the event is taking place and celebrating its 26th edition this year.

“Held annually, Conxemar brings together the main players in the value chain of fisheries and aquaculture products and is organized by the Spanish Association of Wholesalers, Importers, Exporters, and Processors of Fisheries and Aquaculture Products,” the same statement emphasizes.

According to the same document, the National Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture emphasized the strategic importance of Cape Verde’s participation in Conxemar.

He emphasized that this is a unique opportunity to promote the country as an investment destination in the sustainable Blue Economy, reinforce the attractiveness of the fishing sector, and conquer new export markets for products bearing the Cape Verde brand.

The same source stated, “this is a unique opportunity to internationally affirm Cape Verde’s strategic positioning in the Atlantic, with a focus on promoting its maritime and economic potential.”

The Cape Verdean delegation includes representatives from the Instituto do Mar (Institute of the Sea) and five Cape Verdean companies that will exhibit their products and services over the three-day event in Vigo. These include Frescomar, Fresk Gustin, Cooperativa Couro Azul – Associação Mulheres de Achada (Women of Achada Association), Amdjer D’Txeu Luta, and Blue Atlantic Fisheries SV.

In addition to the company exhibits, the Cape Verdean delegation will present institutional information and investment opportunities in the maritime and fishing sector, highlighting the Cabo Verde Shipyards, the Maritime Special Economic Zone, ENAPOR, and SUCLA.

According to the government, Conxemar will be a privileged space for the exchange of knowledge, sharing of experiences, and the establishment of strategic commercial partnerships between Cape Verdean and international companies in the fishing and seafood processing industries.

He also mentioned that the Embassy of Cape Verde in the Kingdom of Spain will also have an institutional presence at the event, reinforcing its support for national representation in this international showcase.
