Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Police in São Vicente began a Christmas and New Year’s security plan this Monday, involving various actions on the ground and the entire command force, a total of 241 agents.
This information was released today at a press conference by the command spokesperson, Elvis Leite, who said that the plan outlines a series of preventive actions involving visibility, patrolling, and traffic control to increase the feeling of security during the festive season.
All this to ensure, according to the same source, that the festivities take place in a climate of social peace.
In addition to controlling nationals, the intervention will also encompass the control and monitoring of foreigners on the island through the international airport, Porto Grande, and the Mindelo Marina.
As usual, Elvis Leite asked for the cooperation of the population to reduce opportunities for crime and invest in prevention.
When questioned about the five days already announced by the mayor of São Vicente for the New Year’s Eve celebration on Rua de Lisboa, the spokesperson for the National Police assured that they will provide security for the event, but the force will not neglect prevention in the more remote areas of the city.
Regarding noise pollution, Elvis Leite acknowledged that there will be numerous permit applications for various activities, but promised that there will be no leniency in terms of enforcement of the aforementioned law, nor regarding the law on the abusive use of alcohol.
The plan began today as a “mega-operation” integrating all areas of the National Police in São Vicente.
