Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Constitutional Court (TC) has upheld an appeal filed by former presidential candidate Gilson Alves, ruling that he is entitled to receive the state subsidy corresponding to the number of votes obtained in the presidential election.

The information is contained in Ruling No. 94/2025, which overturns Decision No. 4/2025 of the National Elections Commission (CNE).

According to the document, Gilson Alves, who ran in the presidential elections of 17 October 2021, filed an appeal after the CNE rejected his request for payment of the state subsidy, on the grounds that he had not obtained at least 10 percent of the valid votes.

He argued that in its earlier Decision 03/CNE/2025, dated April 4, the CNE had already denied his request for the electoral subsidy to which he believed he was entitled as a candidate in the presidential race.
