Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Praia District Court has placed a couple in pre-trial detention on suspicion of high-risk drug trafficking and the crime of converting and concealing assets in Achadinha de Baixo, as reported today by the Judicial Police.
According to the PJ, the couple was arrested in flagrante delicto on the afternoon of Friday, December 19th, during an operation carried out in the Achadinha de Baixo neighborhood, as part of actions to combat internal drug trafficking.
The suspects are between 32 and 44 years old. The action took place in compliance with search and seizure warrants, promoted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and issued by the Criminal Investigation Court of the Praia District Court, within the framework of ongoing investigative proceedings.
During the operation, authorities seized 403.329 grams of cannabis, eleven individual doses of cocaine ready for sale, as well as plastic bags used for packaging drugs. Also seized were 130,403 escudos in cash, a knuckle duster, mobile phones, gold artifacts, and other objects considered to be of significant evidentiary interest.
The detainees were brought before the competent judicial authorities for their first judicial interrogation, and the Praia District Court ordered the most severe coercive measure for both: preventive detention.
