Government Launches "Early Warnings for All" Initiative

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The government launched today the “Early Warnings for All” (EW4All) initiative, aiming to guarantee multi-hazard early warning systems for the entire population by 2027, strengthening protection against climate risks.

According to the government’s announcement today, EW4All can integrate alerts via mobile phone, radio, and television, and will strengthen disaster detection, communication, and response, aligning with national priorities for climate adaptation, risk reduction, and social protection.

“With the support of the United Nations, Cape Verde takes another step in building safer, more resilient, and prepared communities, integrating initiatives such as SOFF and projects funded by the Green Climate Fund,” the government wrote.

It is worth noting that the concept of “Early Warnings for All” refers to warning systems that allow for the anticipation of natural disasters and climate risks, providing timely information to the population so that they can act safely and reduce impacts. These systems integrate scientific and technological data, such as weather forecasts and monitoring of natural phenomena, and communicate alerts through multiple channels, including mobile phones, radio, and television.
