Africa-Press – Cape verde. The young man who caused panic during the Eucharistic celebration in honor of Saint Joseph on Sunday, the 15th, at the Tira-Chapéu Chapel, was restrained by the security of the President of the National Assembly and immediately presented to the Court.

At the moment, the measure applied by the judicial authorities is unknown.

According to information obtained by Inforpress from an official source, the individual, nicknamed Nené, 18 years old and a resident of Tira-Chapéu, one of the neighborhoods in Praia, was armed, which is why he had to be restrained by the security of the President of the National Assembly, Austelino Correia, who was at the ceremony, as was a minister.

The mass, in honor of the patron saint of the Saint Joseph Parish, was being presided over by Cardinal Dom Arlindo Furtado.

The parish priest of Saint Joseph Parish, Father Bruno Varela, clarified to Inforpress that an armed young man created panic during Sunday’s mass, but that no shots were fired.

According to Inforpress, a young man who was a fugitive entered the church while a religious ceremony was being broadcast live.

“The act created some panic, as is natural, because he had a weapon, but it was quickly resolved,” they said.
