Africa-Press – Cape verde. A march involving security forces and various institutions marked the celebrations of Cape Verdean Women’s Day in São Vicente, part of the “Serve and Protect” project, developed throughout the month of March.
According to Inforpress, the initiative was led by the National Police and included the participation of the Armed Forces, private security agents, prison officers, women from the Red Cross, general service assistants, and teachers, in a joint demonstration of “commitment to the protection and empowerment of women.”
The coordinator of the Victim Support Office, Marisa Pinto, highlighted that the activity aimed to reinforce public trust in institutions and emphasize the strength and resilience of Cape Verdean women.
In the case of the National Police in São Vicente, the force currently has 33 female officers, in addition to 11 newly graduated women ready to enlist, in order to reinforce the female presence in the security sector.
“We have a very cohesive and strong corporation,” stated Marisa Pinto, with the idea that everyone should be prepared to protect women and ensure greater security in society.
The march began at the National Police Headquarters, followed by several streets in the city of Mindelo: 5 de Julho, Rua de Lisboa, Avenida Baltasar Lopes, and finally returned to the starting point.
