“Meninu di mandadu” – From ex-prisoner to entrepreneur with home deliveries

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Kiday da Silva, 34, uses an electric cargo tricycle to deliver home delivery services in Praia. A turnaround that changed his life after spending some time in seclusion and now makes him think about helping other people in the same situation.

Kiday got out of jail seven months ago and, without a steady job, started helping people transport cargo.

In an interview with DW, Kiday says that, seven months after the first step, with the help of his electric tricycle, he already has a portfolio of customers who usually pay him a monthly bonus.

“Meninu di Mandadu” does not have an online page or an app. Everything is done in person or over the phone, but it ensures that the service is practical and efficient, despite being tiring.

Kiday says he is focused on working and expanding his business, as a way of also employing and providing an occupation to other ex-prisoners and drug addicts who are difficult to find work.

For this, it counts until the end of the year, to have another tricycle, with the help of an emigrated sister, which will be a start to build a small home delivery fleet.
