Africa-Press – Cape verde. Applications for the Awake Tourism Challenge of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO) are open until the 15th of October. The contest aims to “search for the most innovative” startups working to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Interested startups must address one or more of six categories/challenges: Involvement of the local community; Green and Blue Savings; Creation of Ecological and Sustainable Capital; Empowerment of women, Tourism Tech for Good and Education for Tourism.
Applications are open until the 15th of October, and the winners of the Awake Tourism Challenge will be announced on the 7th of November.
During the month of December, on the UNWTO Demo Day, the winners will also have the opportunity to do a pitching round.
According to Presstur, the previous edition of the Awake Tourism Challenge had more than 10,000 participants from 138 countries, with 25 startups winning.
