Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean Foundation for School Action will guarantee a hot meal to 82,000 students back to school. The entity will now receive, in September, as part of the resumption of the World Food Programme, a shipment of foodstuffs to assist in the 2022/2023 school year.
Adriano Moreno, National Director of Education, said that the Ministry of Education, specifically Ficase, is working with municipalities so that everyone can benefit, from the first day of classes, with a hot meal from the school canteen.
“Ficase has worked tirelessly to provide hot meals to 82,000 children to benefit from the school canteen program this school year”, said Adriano Moreno, revealing that foodstuffs, after the resumption of the partnership with the World Food Program, should arrive to Cape Verde during the month of September.

Adriano Moreno also indicated that the partnership with the World Food Program was resumed and the food provided by this organization will be in Cape Verde later this month.
“In addition to the school canteen, Ficase, as of September 19, will also guarantee transport and school kits”, he said, saying that the latter, despite not being the responsibility of the Ministry, are carried out in partnership with the municipalities.
The World Food Program (WFP), which left Cape Verde in 2010, assured through its regional director, Chris Nikoi, that this year the program would help the country to become more resilient in terms of food products.
It should be recalled that the Cape Verdean Foundation for Social and School Action (Ficase) is a public foundation whose mission is to promote equal opportunity for access to disadvantaged children and guarantee their right to education.
