Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verdean boxer David Pina debuted by winning the African Boxing Championship. The athlete, who went alone, without a coach, defeated his opponent from Zambia, Kelvin Hachilala, in the “Men’s” 51-54 kilograms category.
David Pina won all three rounds with maximum points. The dispute took place at the Academic Pavilion of the Eduardo Mondlane University, in Maputo.
The boxer continues in the competition, as does Nancy Moreira, who already has a place in the final of the competition, and on the 17th she will compete for the gold medal in her category.
It is recalled that Cape Verde is represented at the African Boxing Championship with two athletes, after the controversy over the funds made available for the event.
The competition takes place from September 11 to 18 in Mozambique and has the participation of more than 400 athletes.
