Africa-Press – Cape verde. The first delegation for the 2026 School Sports Olympics (ODE) landed this Wednesday at Nelson Mandela International Airport, with approximately 80 students from Boa Vista, accompanied by their team, and were received by the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz.

According to Inforpress, the governor assured that all logistics are prepared for the fourth edition of the event and highlighted the effort of the delegations and organizations involved.

“This initial contact shows the commitment and dedication of the teams,” said Amadeu Cruz, emphasizing the importance of the ODEs in the national and international sports scene.

The National Director of Education, Adriano Moreno, stressed that the number of participants increases each year and that the introduction of swimming reinforces the relevance of the event.

“The challenge is to surpass previous editions, making the Olympics a moment of celebration of sport and education,” he added.

The event’s budget, according to this newspaper’s source, is around 60 to 70 thousand reais, including some partnerships. The Olympic Games (ODEs) take place from March 22nd to 29th and involve approximately 1,400 young people, teachers, and volunteers.

The caravan from Boa Vista was the first to arrive in Praia. The arrival of athletes and coaches from Sal Island was also expected this Wednesday.
