Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, said today that expectations are for a “normal” agricultural year and assured that the Government will give full support to farmers in the preparation and during the 2023-2024 agricultural year.
The minister made these statements to the press, when asked about the Government’s perspectives for the 2022-2023 agricultural year, on the sidelines of a meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAA) and the organizations of United Nations for Food and Agriculture (FAO) to assess and discuss projects, within the framework of Cabo Verde – MAA – FAO cooperation.
The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the National Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (INIDA) in São Jorge, in the municipality of São Lourenço dos Órgãos (Santiago island), was attended by the FAO representative in Cabo Verde, Ana Touza.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will obviously support farmers as always”, he assured, clarifying that “support is not donating things”.
