Africa-Press – Cape verde. This morning, the Boeing-737-700 arrived in Cape Verde, which will be leased to TACV under a “wet leasing” regime for the first two months. The company plans to resume flights to Boston in the second half of this year, confirmed Sara Pires, chairman of the board of directors of the national air carrier.

Speaking to Rádio de Cabo Verde (RCV), Sara Pires said that for two months the Transportes Aéreos de Angola aircraft will operate under a ‘wet leasing’ regime, in which the crew is Angolan, in addition to being responsible for paying the insurance and maintenance of the device.

When the device starts operating under a ‘dry leasing’ regime, it will operate with the colors of Cabo Verde Airlines, national crew and all maintenance service will be guaranteed by Cabo Verdean staff, as well as the insurance will be in charge of TACV .

Other appliances

Sara Pires did not confirm the information that TAAG is available to place two more planes at the service of TACV, but made it clear that it is the intention of the national air carrier to resort, if possible, to other aircraft of the Angolan airline.

“TAAG has 19 aircraft and may be interested in leasing more planes to Cape Verde”, assured Sara Pires, who hopes that the partnership with the Angolans will be “lasting” and, therefore, she stressed, does not rule out the possibility of leasing more aircraft to Angola.

CVA to resume flights to Boston

He guaranteed, on the other hand, that Cabo Verde Airlines will resume the routes to which it has always operated and which are “profitable”, such as Boston (United States of America), Paris (France) and Fortaleza (Brazil).

At the moment, TACV is operating only on the route to Lisbon and, according to its official, at the beginning of the second half they plan to introduce at least two more routes.

Regarding the resumption of the ‘hub’ on the island of Sal, that manager said that according to the current plan, this platform is “suspended”, because, at the moment, the platform itself does not allow it.

“The partnership with TAAG will be able to dynamize and enhance the two ‘hubs’: Sal and Luanda. And if this partnership is used very well, I believe that the ‘hub’ of Sal will have a great boost and we can, in fact, boost everything that is the business around the ‘hub’ on the island of Sal”, said Sara Pires

At the moment, said Sara Pires, 60 percent (%) of TACV workers are on a ‘lay-off’ regime and in this case it is the company itself that is paying the salaries.
