Africa-Press – Cape verde. Political parties and independent candidates have formalized their candidacies for the local elections on December 1st in different municipalities.
In São Salvador do Mundo, the PAICV submitted a candidacy that fully complies with the parity law, with a division of 50% men and 50% women in the council, and 60% men and 40% women in the municipal assembly, according to the representative Eugénio Nasolino, while the MpD presented a young candidacy, with representatives from all areas of the municipality, also respecting gender parity, according to the representative Brás Gabriel.
In São Lourenço dos Órgãos, the PAICV was the first to submit its candidacy, led by António Fernandes, ensuring compliance with the parity law. The MpD, represented by Daniel Vieira, also formalized its candidacy.
In Santa Cruz, the MpD submitted its candidacy led by Ivanildo Tavares, who highlighted compliance with the legal requirements. The PAICV also formalized its candidacy, with the guarantee that all legal standards were complied with.
In Tarrafal, the MpD formalized its candidacy with Marcelo Correia for the city council and Victor Mendes for the assembly, presenting a diverse list. The PAICV, in turn, submitted a candidacy with 50% men and 50% women, guaranteeing legal parity.
In Praia, the MpD, led by Abraão Vicente, formalized its candidacy promising to “rescue” the municipality. The UCID submitted its list headed by Juceliano Vieira (Vidjey) and Sandra Santos and the PAICV should formalize its candidacy today.
In Sal, the PAICV submitted the candidacy headed by José Paixão, for the city council, and Carlos Monteiro, for the municipal assembly, with the promise that the candidates reflect the social reality of the island.
The MpD, led by Júlio Lopes, who is running for re-election, also formalized its candidacy, with Nuno Lopes as its candidate for the presidency of the assembly. In Santo Antão, in Paul, the MpD submitted a list led by Adilson Fernandes to the council and Sandra Galina to the assembly. In Ribeira Grande, the MpD, represented by António Miranda, submitted a list that complies with the parity law, with 53% women for the municipal council. The PAICV also formalized its candidacy, with Pedro Pio Lopes ensuring that all legal procedures were followed. In Porto Novo, the PAICV was the first party to submit its candidacy in the municipality, respecting the parity law, according to the representative Lígia Neves. As for the island of São Vicente, the MpD formalized its candidacy led by Augusto Neves to the council and Helena Fortes to the assembly, with a list that complies with parity and has a good representation of young people. The São Vicentino Autonomous Movement (MAS), led by Carlos Araújo, submitted its candidacy, promising to use the “strength of the people” to govern. The candidacies of the PAICV and the UCID have yet to be formalized.
In Brava, the MpD was the first to formalize its candidacy, according to spokesperson João Paulo Silva. The PAICV, led by Amândio Brito, also submitted its candidacy, focusing on “working to win” for the love of Brava.
In São Nicolau, the PAICV formalized its candidacy in Ribeira Brava, with Nilton Monteiro for mayor and Januário Gomes for assembly. The MpD, in turn, submitted the candidacy of José Martins for mayor and Benvindo Almeida for assembly.
Finally, in Boa Vista, the MpD was the third political force to formalize its candidacy on the island, with João Spencer for mayor and Miriam Livramento for assembly, promising to bring about change in Boa Vista. PAICV was the first to formalize its candidacy.
