Africa-Press – Cape verde. The conference “The Strategic Role of the Creative Economy” marks the beginning of the 12th edition of the Atlantic Music Expo (AME), which takes place from the 6th to the 9th of this month in Praia.

On Monday, the 6th, the first day of AME will be marked by the opening session in the Jorge Barbosa Auditorium, followed by showcases of some young artists, as in previous years.

On Tuesday, the 7th, the Ildo Lobo Cultural Palace will host the conference “How artists, platforms and technology are shaping the next era of global music. Streaming and artificial intelligence are opening global opportunities for emerging music markets”. The conference will feature speakers Marvin Resende and Tuma Baza. Following this, there will be daycases with Matos Trio (Cape Verde) and Aiza (Canada).

There will also be a workshop on “New Digital Production ‘Dentu Beats’”. The workshop will feature speakers Gol Beats, Lil Mario, Khaly Angel and Bouzin Beats, moderated by Djam Neguin.

During the afternoon, showcases will take place with Ineida Moniz and Derrick Salomão (Cape Verde), Maia Barouh (Japan), Guchi (Nigeria), Kizaba (Quebec/Congo), and Batchart and Maya (Cape Verde). The day ends with a showcase by DJ Polback (Cape Verde) at Aqua.

On Wednesday, the 8th, the conference “Artistic Mobility between Cape Verde, Brazil and Portugal” is scheduled, with Mônica Cosas as the speaker. Following this, a daycase will be held at the Ildo Lobo Cultural Palace with Faraualla (Italy) and Alicia Freitas (Cape Verde).

On the same day, the workshop “How to present your musical project professionally” will take place, moderated by José da Silva and with speakers Patrick de Groote and Alexandra Archetti-Solen.

At the end of the day, showcases will take place with Nara Couto (Brazil), Mindela Soares, Eri Manuel and Mak Delman (Cape Verde), Dois, Pois (Águeda/Portugal) and Zale Seck (Senegal). Wednesday’s activities conclude with a showcase by DJ Rahsaan (Canada).

On Thursday, the 9th, the conference “Making Culture Visible: Digital Discovery, Cultural Circulation and Creative Perspectives between Cape Verde, Quebec and West Africa” will take place, with speakers Saphia Arhzaf and Julien Senez-Gagnon.

On the same day, there will be a daycase with Voginha (Cape Verde) and Juliata Cohen (France), as well as a screening of a film about Orlando Pantera. During the afternoon, showcases are scheduled with Sambaiana (Brazil), Princezito (Cape Verde), Patche di Rima (Guinea-Bissau) and Fidju Kitxora (Cape Verde). The program concludes at Aqua with DJ Percy (Cape Verde) and Mara Noor (Serbia).

Also on Thursday, the opening of the 15th edition of the Kriol Jazz Festival takes place.

According to the organizers, over eleven editions, AME has become a benchmark event for networking, exchange, knowledge, and transatlantic music, bringing together professionals and artists from Cape Verde, Africa, the Americas, and other regions.

The AME community grows with each edition, composed of engaged music professionals and artists from around the world. “The vibrant environment provides an ideal platform for networking, allowing musicians to seek advice to boost their careers and for new artistic opportunities to arise.”
