Africa-Press – Cape verde. Abraão Vicente’s departure from the government ‘forces’ changes. Augusto Veiga will take over the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries and Jorge Santos will combine the Ministry of Communities with the position of Minister of the Sea. Evandro Monteiro will also leave the government and leave the State Department of Health to run for the Municipal Chamber of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
“With the departure of Abraão Vicente from the Government, to run in the local elections, I appointed, this afternoon, on the proposal of the Prime Minister, Jorge Santos, Minister of the Sea, and Augusto Veiga, Minister of Culture and Creative Industries”, announced this Tuesday the President of the Republic José Maria Neves in a post on Facebook.
Today, also via Facebook, the Prime Minister confirmed the departure of Abraão Vicente and the handover of the ministries to Augusto Veiga and Jorge Santos.
“I made an adjustment in the Government with a new Minister of Culture and Creative Industries and a new Minister of the Sea. I wish the greatest success to Augusto Veiga and Jorge Santos. They will do a great job”, says Ulisses Correia e Silva.
But the changes to the government team do not stop there. The Prime Minister also announced the departure of the Secretary of State for Health, Evandro Monteiro, who will run for the Municipal Council of Santa Catarina do Fogo.
“I thank Abraão Vicente and Evandro Monteiro. They gave their best for Cabo Verde, with competence, hard work and results. Now they embrace new challenges and a new mission: to serve Praia and Santa Catarina do Fogo. I wish them both the greatest success.”
Regarding Augusto Veiga’s entry into the government and the accumulation of portfolios by Jorge Santos, “they are a consequence of the already announced departure of Abraão Vicente from the government to run for the Praia City Council in this year’s local elections”.
Augusto Veiga is a businessman linked to the music and entertainment industry, having worked closely with bands such as Ferro Gaita and Tubarões.
He has been a music agent for about 25 years and was, until now, the general director of the Atlantic Music Expo.
