Africa-Press – Cape verde. The main bathing beaches in the municipality of São Filipe will be monitored from today until the end of September, said the councilor responsible for the Civil Protection sector, Euclides Fernandes.

In total, the Municipality of São Filipe provides eight swimmers/lifeguards for the beaches of Salinas (North), Marmulano (Vale dos Cavaleiros) and Fonte Bila, as well as placing some materials and equipment such as surveillance towers.

The councilor said that the beaches will be monitored during the week in the afternoon and on weekends throughout the day to guarantee the safety of bathers during the bathing season.

The swimmers/lifeguards are the same ones who last year underwent a training course provided by the city council in partnership with the Maritime Port Institute (IMP) and bathers and beachgoers must respect the guidelines given by them.

During the summer, the beaches of Fonte Bila and Vale dos Cavaleiros are the most popular, especially in the afternoon and on weekends.
