Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing announced today that access to the town of Fajã d’Água, on Brava Island, has been restored following Wednesday’s landslide.
According to a statement, despite the reopening, traffic remains restricted while road stabilization and cleaning work continues.
It was also reported that the technical teams from Estradas de Cabo Verde (Cape Verde Roads) remain on site, working continuously to ensure safety and normality in road traffic.
The interventions include debris removal, slope assessment, and the implementation of preventive measures to avoid further landslides.
The ministry thanked the population for their understanding and cooperation, asking drivers and residents to follow the authorities’ instructions while the work is underway.
The only access road to the town of Fajã d’Água, on Brava Island, collapsed again in the early hours of Wednesday, the 19th, leaving the community completely isolated, days after the island was hit by heavy rains.
