Budget Support Group in Cape Verde for macroeconomic assessment

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Budget Support Group (GAO), led this year by Portugal, starts on Monday, 12, an evaluation mission to Cape Verde, to analyze the fiscal and financial macroeconomic environment, the impacts of the war in Ukraine and the progress achieved in the implementation of policies and reforms.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the mission should assess progress in reforms in sectors that contribute to poverty reduction, namely Security, Energy, Energy Transition, Social Protection, the Blue Economy, Health, Employment and Employability, Defence, Justice, Home Affairs, Climate Action and Connectivity.

During the mission, the results achieved at the International Conference of Partners will also be presented, as well as the financing needs and the partners’ contributions to the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development 2022-2026 (PEDS II).

Portugal’s leadership

This year the Budget Support Group is led by Portugal and made up of the following partners: Luxembourg, the European Union, Spain, the World Bank and the African Development Bank Group.

The official opening will be co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Business Development, Olavo Correia, and by the Ambassador of Portugal in Cape Verde, Paulo Lourenço.
