Cape Verde’s senior men’s handball team lost, this Wednesday, to Tunisia by 23-30, in its second game in the 25th edition of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), which takes place in Egypt.
In a match counting for the second round of group C, held at the International Hall of Cairo, Cape Verde, which entered the field with the classification for the second phase already assured, argued in the first part and lost by 10-14.
In the complementary stage, the supremacy of the African champions (10 times) came to the fore, reaching a difference of 10 goals, and they ended up winning the match by 24-30.
Quarter-finals with Angola
With this defeat, the national team ends up in the second position of the group with two points, behind Tunisia with four, while Nigeria was in the third position without any point. The Kenya national team, which was part of this pool, withdrew from the competition.
Now, in the quarter-finals, the national team will face Angola, first classified in group D, tomorrow, at 14:30. CAN’2022 will be played until the 18th, in Egypt, with the participation of 14 African teams.
