Africa-Press – Cape verde. The national football team has just qualified for the 2023 African Football Championship (CAN) by defeating Burkina Faso 3-1 at the National Stadium.
This is Cape Verde’s fourth participation in the biggest football championship in Africa, the second consecutive.
Cape Verde’s goals were scored by Tiago Correia “Bebé”, João Paulo Fernandes and Euclides Andrade “Clé”.
After seven minutes, Bebé made it 1-0. Before the end of the first half, Dayo equalized for Burkina Faso.
In the second half, Joao Paulo once again put the “blue sharks” ahead on the scoreboard. And at 90+4, Cle secured the victory and Cape Verde’s qualification for CAN 2023.
This will be Cape Verde’s fourth participation in a CAN final phase, after appearances in 2013, in South Africa, 2015, in Equatorial Guinea and in 2021 in Cameroon.
The 2024 edition takes place in Ivory Coast.
