Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cidade Velha, the cradle of Cape Verdean nationality, hosts on January 29, 2023 the 10th anniversary of the celebrations of the 500 years of the creation of the Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde and the 30th anniversary of the Diocese from Mindelo.
The solemn opening ceremony of the event, according to Rádio Nova de Maria – Cabo Verde, will be marked by the Eucharistic celebration to be presided over by the Cardinal and Bishop of Santiago, Dom Arlindo Furtado, and concelebrated by the Bishop of Mindelo, Dom Ildo Fortes , both priests of the two dioceses.
According to Father José Mário Moreira, from the National Executive Committee preparing the celebrations for the 500 years of the creation of the Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde and the 30 years of the creation of the Diocese of Mindelo. The celebration will take place in the parish of Santíssimo Nome de Jesus, in Cidade Velha, being associated with the opening of the two large conferences.
These talks will be held “with great dignity” on the islands of Santiago and São Vicente, on the feast of the patron saint of the parish of the same name and of the island.
