Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cape Verdean national football team is out of CHAN 2023. Despite beating Sierra Leone, last night, by 2-1, the team is out of CHAN due to Tuesday’s defeat against the same team, in Morocco.
Cape Verde beat Sierra Leone 2-1 last night, in the second leg of the tie for the African Cup of Resident Nations (CAN’2023) in Morocco, but was eliminated from the competition.
This 2-1 victory became bitter for the Creole team, since in the first leg, played on Sunday, also at Marrakech Stadium, the Tubarões Azuis had scored a two-goal defeat.
Thus, Cape Verde loses in the result (3-2), so it is on the way, while Sierra Leone passes to the next stage, and will dispute the entry into the group stage of CHAN’2023 with Mali, finalist won in the last edition, in matches that give access to the African Championship, scheduled for January, in Algeria.
Cape Verde and Sierra Leone played both matches in Morocco as the two countries have their stadiums closed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host international competitions.
