Africa-Press – Cape verde. Customers of the Cape Verde Electricity Distribution Company (EDEC, S.A.) and Boa Vista Water and Energy (AEB, S.A.) will pay less for electricity over the next six months, according to a Resolution by the Multisectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy (ARME), published in the Official Gazette this Wednesday, July 2.

According to the document, the drop in prices is justified by the favorable evolution of the prices of fuels used in energy production, the current compensation mechanisms and other tariff adjustment factors.

In practice, for domestic consumers with monthly consumption of up to 60 KWh, the basic EDEC tariff increases from 26.51 to 24.58 escudos, and with VAT included, from 28.63 to 26.55 escudos. For consumption above 60 KWh/month, the tariff with VAT drops from 36.04 to 34.20 escudos.

The special low voltage tariff was also reduced, from R$29.52 to R$27.69 (base value), while medium voltage went from R$25.20 to R$23.23, and public lighting from R$26.51 to R$24.58 (base).

Internal consumption for water production will now be billed at 23.77 escudos, compared to the previous 25.52.

On the island of Boa Vista, where energy distribution is ensured by AEB, the domestic tariff for up to 60 KWh/month increases from 30.41 to 28.03 escudos (base value), and the tariff with VAT falls from 32.84 to 30.27 escudos.

For larger purchases, the amount including VAT drops from 40.25 to 37.92 escudos. Special low voltage goes from 33.42 to 31.13 escudos, medium voltage from 29.10 to 26.68 escudos, and public lighting from 30.41 to 28.03 escudos (base).

Internal consumption of water production also recorded a reduction, now standing at 25.65 escudos.
