Africa-Press – Cape verde. The president of the Cape Verdean Chess Federation, Francisco Carapinha, said that Cape Verde will participate in the Indian Olympics, with a male team and, possibly, with the inclusion of a female one, if there is financial availability.

The disputes are scheduled between July and August of this year, but, as Francisco Carapinha explained, he still does not have concrete dates, since the race, initially scheduled to be held in Moscow, was transferred to India, because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. .

According to the same source, in light of the regulations, each team will be composed of four players plus a substitute, so Cape Verde plans to participate in this kind of World Championship with 10 chess players, of which five from the Open team (men) and as many women. .

“Everything will depend on the conditions we manage to arrange. It is clear that the Open team will fight for a podium place in terms of our zone. In women’s, it’s unknown because it will be our first participation”, he said in an interview with Inforpress, recalling that in Cape Verde’s first and only participation in the Olympics (Georgia – 2018), he took an Open team and exceeded expectations.
