Christmas: Point tolerance for State employees, today, 23rd and 30th of December

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Government granted a one-off period to civil servants on the 23rd and 30th of December. The measure published in the Official Bulletin does not apply to the Armed Forces, Judiciary Police, National Police, hospitals and health infrastructures, prison agents and guards and services that work around the clock.

“One stop allowance is granted, throughout the National Territory, to employees and agents of the State, public institutes and local authorities, on the next 23 and 30 December 2022, throughout the day”, reads in the Bulletin Official.

The document justifies that, taking into account that Christmas and the end of the year are parties “rooted” in Cape Verdean culture, therefore periods, by tradition, marked by the displacement of many people outside their place of residence, to visit and spend parties with family members.

“Thus, considering our status as an archipelagic country and the need to create conditions for employees to be able to gather together peacefully, as a family, for celebrations”, explains the document.

But, as usual, the point tolerance does not apply to institutions such as the Armed Forces, the Judiciary Police, the National Police, health establishments, prison agents and security guards and services that operate on an uninterrupted basis, with the usual working hours in force.
