Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Hall of Praia on Wednesday celebrated the Africa Day, under the theme “Praia one of the capitals of Africa”, focusing on facilitating the approach of the continent, particularly in relation to capital cities, said the Mayor Francisco Carvalho.
In a statement to the press, Francisco Carvalho said it was a symbolic activity, but important to mark this date, being a “sign of pride” to commemorate the continent and to show that we are also attentive to Africa.
“The choice of this theme: Praia one of the capitals of Africa, goes precisely in this sense, in the sense that we position ourselves as an African capital and we are currently developing a set of initiatives to bring us closer and closer to our continent, the African continent, in a particular way in relation to the capital cities here on the continent”, he said.
The same source added that initiatives to approach the capitals of Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Angola were underway, in a first phase, in order to have international investors in the capital city, presenting the possibility of an “extension to the continent, here in the area near Cabo Verde”.
