Africa-Press – Cape verde. The newly created “Kilombo – Anti-Racist Intervention Platform” promotes this Sunday, 11th, in Lisbon, the 1st Anti-Racist Intervention Meeting, as one of the ways to fight against racism, phenomenon that considers global, structural and institutional.
The meeting, to be held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, will take place throughout the day, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (from 7:30 am in Cabo Verde) and will serve simultaneously for the collective “Kilombo ”, whose one of the creators, Cabo Verdean José Rui Rosário, is presented.
“Kilombo – Platform for Anti-Racist Intervention is a newly created collective and arises from the need to aggregate knowledge and will in the fight against racism. The phenomenon is global and goes beyond the behavioral issue”, considers the collective, adding that “racism segregates, represents a violent attack against human rights”.
According to the collective, racism is “something structural and institutional, with a socioeconomic, political and cultural dimension, it is rooted, it is reflected in power relations, which attribute advantages and benefits to some, and nothing to certain social groups, making it impossible to the progress of these people”.
