Africa-Press – Cape verde. As of today, Cape Verde will no longer require the presentation of a valid Covid Certificate or a negative screening test, on inter-island and international trips, to the country, according to the Government’s decision.
According to a resolution of the Council of Ministers, published this Wednesday, in the Official Gazette, Cape Verde is no longer under a state of alert, based on the “very satisfactory evolution” of the epidemiological situation of covid-19.
On the other hand, the use of face masks in spaces and establishments is no longer mandatory, as well as in collective transport of land, air and sea passengers, “from now on a health recommendation, as an expression of civic conscience and responsibility”.

“Without prejudice to the provisions of the previous number, the competent health authorities are recognized as having the prerogative of being able to enforce the mandatory use of face masks in health spaces and establishments and infrastructures, in day centers and nursing homes, under the terms of the precautionary principle in public health, enshrined in the Public Health Basic Law”, notes the government resolution, cited by Inforpress.

However, for international travel originating in Cape Verde, the requirement for a Covid Certificate or a negative test depends on the guidelines of the health authorities of the destination countries.
In recent times, Cape Verde has recorded a considerable reduction in positive cases of covid-19, according to the Ministry of Health.
Numbers
According to this Wednesday’s epidemiological bulletin, of the total of 372 samples processed in national laboratories, there were four new positive cases, three in Boa Vista and one in Praia.
With the new data, the country now has 17 active cases, 61,868 recovered cases, 410 deaths, 46 deaths from other causes and nine transferred, making a cumulative total of 62,350 positive cases.
