Africa-Press – Cape verde. The creation of the Destination Management Organization (DMO) is one of the main challenges facing tourism in the municipality of Porto Novo, Santo Antão, according to a survey on this sector released today by the local authorities of Porto Novo.
In addition to the creation of the DMO, there are other “major challenges” directly related to tourism, including the construction of tourist infrastructure, monitoring, maintenance and recovery of the local road network, and the capacity building of tourism operators, according to the same source.
The municipality also highlights the need to promote tourism in the municipality and improve the tourism value chain as other concerns related to the tourism sector in this municipality.
The participation of the municipality of Porto Novo in tourism promotion events, urban redevelopment, valorization of the tourist villages of Monte Trigo and Tarrafal, and the second phase of the redevelopment of the Curraletes beach area are some of the public investments in tourism in this municipality in 2023, estimated at 80 million escudos.
