Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cabo Verdean Football Federation (FCF) mourned this Monday the passing of Marcelina Fortes, known as “Celly Fortes”, a former female football player, representing Mindelense, in the city of Mindelo.
In a note of regret, the FCF points out that Celly Fortes played in women’s football for Clube Sportivo Mindelense, and that “she was well known for being a great driver of women’s football, not only in Mindelense, but throughout the island of São Vicente”.
In 2018, explained the note initiated by the federative president, Mário Semedo, Celly Fortes was honored by the FCF, during the National Women’s Championship, in Boa Vista, for her contribution to women’s football.
To the family members, to Club Sportivo Mindelense, to the São Vicente Regional Football Association, and to the entire sporting community, the Cabo Verdean Football Federation offers its sincere condolences.
In addition, an activist of the Mindelo Carnival, Cely Fortes, member of the Vindos do Oriente Carnival Group and collaborator of the Samba Tropical School Celly Fortes, 58 years old, died this morning in São Vicente.
