Africa-Press – Cape verde. The value of transactions at ATMs, payment terminals and services on the vinti4 network grew by 20% in 2024, to a record 208 billion escudos.

According to data released by the central bank, consulted today by Lusa, the value of transactions has followed a trend of constant increase, year after year, only attenuated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Payment for purchases with a card at terminals was the operation that mobilized almost half of national transactions in 2024, followed by withdrawals at ATMs.

Transactions with international cards increased by 23% compared to 2023, to 24 billion escudos.

In 2024, these operations with international cards corresponded to 11% of the total transactions.

The network has over 381,000 users, vinti4 card holders, 233 ATMs on all the islands and 14,000 payment terminals in establishments, in addition to services via mobile phone and the Internet.

The network is managed by Sociedade Interbancária e Sistemas de Pagamento (SISP).

In October, the Government reaffirmed its ambition to replace physical money with safe and efficient digital transactions within six years, when it published the archipelago’s new Digital Economy Strategy.
