Africa-Press – Cape verde. The horse “Vulcão II”, owned by owner Clóvis Teixeira, is the big winner of the horse race of the festivities of the Day of the Municipality and the Flag of São Filipe 2023, which take place on the island of Fogo.
At the end of the competition, Clóvis Teixeira, owner of the horse Vulcão II, was happy with the victory and even moved. Cited by Inforpress, he recalled the damage he had last year, in which he lost four horses, noting that Vulcão II competed with military costumes in honor of them and the soldiers who lost their lives in the wake of the fire in Serra Malagueta, on the island of Santiago.
In total, the monetary prizes for the six best horses were around 1,330 contos, being 500, 250, 200, 150, 130 and 100 contos for the first six classified, with the other participating horses receiving a participation prize worth 10 Tales.
This year the joker won a prize of 10,000 escudos offered by Paulo Dias, an equestrian lover.
The mayor of Sal, Júlio Lopes, who was present at the championship final, also offered a free week in a hotel on that island to the owner of the winning horse as a prize.
